The Scene

News from the room.

Cancellations, deadlines, tapings and new records. A few emails a year, not a few a week.

The main reason to be on this list is unglamorous and genuinely useful: when a session cancels inside two weeks, that time goes to this list first, usually at short notice and often at a better number than a planned booking.

What actually gets sent

Last-minute studio time. A band postpones, a week opens up, and we would rather see the room used than sit on it. These go out same day.

Austin Icons deadlines. Submission windows for the showcase are short and easy to miss if you are not looking for them.

512 Studios Live tapings. When there are seats on the floor for a taping, or when submissions open for a season.

Records finished here. Occasionally, when something comes out of the room that is worth an email on its own.

What does not

No weekly newsletter, no gear affiliate links, no discount countdowns. The list exists because studio time is perishable and deadlines are easy to miss, not because a marketing calendar says Tuesday.

Your address is not sold, rented or handed to a partner. One click unsubscribes and nobody follows up asking why.

Common questions

How often do you email?

A few times a year, plus same-day notes when studio time opens up unexpectedly. There is no weekly send.

Is the last-minute time cheaper?

Often, because an empty room earns nothing. It is quoted case by case like everything else — call and ask.

Will you sell my address?

No. It is not sold, rented or shared, and unsubscribing takes one click.

I am not in a band, is it still useful?

Less so. Most of what goes out is aimed at people making records or trying to get on the show.
