A studio playlist rather than an algorithm. Mostly things cut on this desk, and the rest of what this city is putting out.
512 Radio runs out of the building. The playlist is whatever is on the monitors that week, which means it is weighted heavily toward records made by people we know, in rooms we have been in, on gear we recognise.
It is not a recommendation engine. Nothing on it was chosen because it performed well. Things get added because somebody in the building put them on and nobody turned them off, which is a worse system statistically and a better one musically.
It skews Austin, heavily. Latin rock, outlaw country, cumbia, soul, metal, straight rock and roll — the same range that comes through the live room, because largely it is the same people.
It runs while the room does. If you have been in for a session you have heard it between takes. It is the same stream.
New records go on early. Something finished here often goes into rotation before it is on the streaming platforms, because we have the file and the artist wants people to hear it.

No. Plenty of what is in rotation was made elsewhere. Send it over.

No, and there is no pitching service. Nobody here takes money to add a song.

Whatever is on the monitors that week. In practice that is Latin rock, outlaw country, cumbia, soul, metal and Austin rock and roll, because that is what comes through the room.
